CNR 2013: Exhibition: Igor Lobanov (RUS)

Igor Lobanov is an young industrial designer based in Moscow. He was graduated in Industrial Design Department at Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts. Igor was awarded in many international design competitions: Red dot design award, International design award, Design and Design award, and others. Currently Igor works with different projects and particular focused on lighting and furniture design.

Homant is a concept of robot, which is a link between person and smart house. This robot is like a remote control for your home systems and works as an information filter. Homant adapts the information space to particular user and gives more abilities for manipulating this information.

Design feature is connecting regular geometric shapes with soft stretchy parts to give you right emotions with it and make you feel empathy. It is far from been just a dummy construction but closer to pet. This feature does more psycological comfort in using it.

Functionally there are three main zones in this robot. Its head provide feedback emotions by mimics, sound etc. All functional and robot control is locate on the body part. And moving function is realized in base sphere part including accumulator, wheels and control electronics.

Homant have soft skin material around its eye-cameras to make it animate and provide emotional feedback. Its front touch-screen display is based on flexible OLED technology allows user to make all inputs and change robots properties. Robot has a projector to visualize any information during the communication with owner.
