CNR 2013: Lectures: Magnus Wurzer (AUT)

Roboexotica - The Festival for Cocktail Robotics

Although today robots have a lot of different applications, still only in very few cases they are involved in interaction with a human end-user.

Progress in the development of "service" and "helper" robots have been very promising in the past few years though.

While robots have been omnipresent in industry and popular culture, at this point in time, there is still only just a beginning of efforts made on introducing robotics to the various cultural environments of everyday life.

ROBOEXOTICA looks at the broadly interpreted field of "modern" cocktail culture, which includes a manyfold of arts that contribute to it.

Until 1999 no attempts were made to create a competition of developing technologies or to introduce cocktail-robotics as an index for the integration of technological achievements in everyday life, and as a means of documenting the creation of new interfaces for man-machine-interaction, a priori dedicated to hedonism.

That void has been occupied for 14 years now, by the ROBOEXOTICA, the Viennese cocktail-robotics festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this December.

ROBOEXOTICA tries to establish worldwide contacts with developers of cocktail-robotics and to function as an international platform for anybody interested in the topics addressed.
